A few more corporate shows…
A weekend stint at Lafflines next month…
A December gig in Victoria…
What I’ve learned is,
that in periods of uncertainty,
sometimes…
you just have to ask.

To the little boy I teach in my Wednesday art class,
Whose anger simmers in shades of cobalt and bravado,
Fists that sneer inward, pounding his face into a canvas of despair
I long to uncurl your clenched little hands,
And, kiss the palm of your heart.
Cookies that burn. Cakes that fall.
While the dancer submerges in the verve.
Mapping the infinite and the mythic.
From this conglomeration,
which makes a life remembered?
A woman no more substantial than a cloud,
yet, one who caught the sun.
Aside from the comedy rooms, I’ve got two projects moving forward…
Laffpill – a weekly podcast co-hosted by American comedian Richard Kiss and myself. He is irreverant, too smart for his own health, and open to the creative cesspool that we, together, will create. Each show, we’ll banter, shed light on the news of the day, the comedy scene – and spend time with our weekly guest. Nice, little 30-minute shows, packaged all pretty-like, delivered right to your front door in non-denominational wrapping. We’re aiming big, guest-wise: Demetri Martin, Todd Barry, Jeremy Hotz, Jon Dore, and…yeah – Darcy Michael.
Second project is a play I’m co-writing with fellow comic, Antoinette Keane. My God, she’s quippy and punchy. Smart. We laugh. We write. We laugh. They call this work? We hope to write and perform in a two-woman show to be presented to the Vancouver Fringe Festival in 2009.
Two projects.
People tell me this is good.
(They say: “This is good, Colleen.”)
I’ll believe it when I see it.
