Snowcone Cool

I travelled with my family to see comedian Brian Regan in Bellingham on the weekend. The Mount Baker Heritage Theatre was filled. Kids, parents, dates. Brian: Black jeans, red shirt, spiky hair, cluthing a bottle of Coke, invited us into his unassuming, humble life abode. His jokes have the effect of rock songs with audience members shouting out their requests. Afterwards, my family and I had the honour of hanging backstage, talking with Brian about school, his family, his early comedic influence (Steve Martin). Cool guy. Cooler Comic. Thanks Brian for making our day.

If I was a MySpacer

I don’t own a watch…or a cell phone. I think I’m the western hemisphere’s last remaining MySpace hold-out. And, I have no desire to join the scrum. But, sometimes…just sometimes….I long to have one of those ’personal preferences’ pages (but, I can do without the random, incoherent, late-night posting orgies). So, in a moment of MySpace envy, I scribble this:

Music: Damien Rice, Ben Harper, Travis, Matthew Good Band, Dave Mathews, Nirvana, The Clash, Pearl Jam, Stevie Wonder, Bell X1, Stereophonics, Sarah MacLachlan, Neil Young, Sarah Harmer, Peter Gabriel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stones. (Classical music a future posting all its own).

Movies: High Fidelity, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Age of Innocence, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Koyaanisqatsi, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Il Postino, This is Spinal Tap, Les Ballet Russes, The Bicycle Thief, About Schmidt, Chocolat, Mulholland Drive, The English Patient, Amelie, Before Sunrise, The Graduate, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Groundhog Day, Dumb & Dumber, Annie Hall, Jesus of Montreal, American Beauty, The Remains of the Day, Goodbye Lenin.

I am electronically complete.
